Emily White is an emerging singer-songwriter based in the East Midlands. Drawing influence from a wide range of styles and eras, expect a unique blend of music which showcases an obvious love for jazz, soul and the quintessential songwriters of the 70’s.
After completing her music degree at the University of Birmingham Emily began to work on her debut EP Colourblind. Whilst working part-time she was able to facilitate the production, release and distribution of the 5 tracks recorded at SMAC Studios, Suffolk. Since then, she has built up a following playing at various venus in the East Midlands, some of note include The Bookcafe (Derby), The Flowerpot (Derby), The Greyhound (Derby) and Yorks Bakery Cafe (Birmingham).
Recently reviewed by the Derby music and culture website ‘Storge’, the feature article discusses the release of Emily’s new video Brother and describes it as ‘classic songwriting’ with ‘jazz-infused vocals’ and ‘subtle melody beneath’.
Emily is currently rehearsing with a new band line up in anticipation of the EP launch, date to be confirmed soon. With a busy touring schedule ahead, Emily is looking forward to a creative and exciting year focusing on nurturing her talent and exploring new opportunities.
